Muscovia is the capital and center of the Muscovi Dwarf tribe which encompasses Firren, Occitan, Keldun, and Belgica. Muscovia was founded by King Aldebor I in 4,900 BRU. Upon his death Aldebor was made a God by Frennos and the Empire grew, alongside the Icenii tribe, until 3,500 BRU when the Empires of Dwarves and Elves collapsed. The Dark Ages lasted until 1,920 BRU when the five tribes of Dwarves and gnomes returned to prominence. The Icenii and the Muscovians allied to keep the Hogorite Khanate at bay and to flourish to two prosperous kingdoms. In 638 a diplomatic split between the two resulted in a reform of the Monarchy in Muscovia. Muscovia continued as a monarchy until Gilar Tunneldigger declared himself Emperor after seizing the throne at the head of a mercenary army in 28 BRU. Following The Dwarven Crusade in 173 ARU a violent rebellion replaced the Imperial line with a council of five who oversee the rule of the country.

Pre Collapse Monarchy[]
From the founding of the tribe under King Aldebor until the havoc of the Dark Ages the Muscovi were ruled by an all powerful sovereign. As smaller settlements grew around Muscovia Dukes were chosen to watch them at a local level. Whenever a King would die his successor would be chosen by a vote among the Dukes. This led to a legacy of treachery, assassination, bribes, and minor civil wars.
Imperial Lines[]
After the reform of the monarchy the settlements grew apart as seperate Duchies and kingdoms under countless squabbling Barons and Lords. Human groups began to settle around the base of the mountain range, including the settlement Foothills. As more races appeared in Dwarven settlements trade improved and with the return of trade Muscovia began to rise to prominence. Gilar Tunneldigger, a merchant from Belgica, declared himself Emperor of Muscovia with a mercenary army of Men and Dwarves. Various family lines would claim the throne until its final occupent Emperor Nikolai Yusupov who was replaced in a violent coup by his generals, advisors, and servants in 173 ARU.

The Council of Five consists of the leaders of the Revolution against the Empire. All major decisions are made in secret by this body.
